“Although not everyone knows this, many of my students are aware that I lived in Lima, Peru for my first 17 years and attended a school very similar to Benjamin School called “Colegio Roosevelt”. I have such fond memories of “Colegio Roosevelt”, a highly academic school which also emphasized the arts and athletics. One of my favorite memories of Roosevelt is the annual variety show.
“It is those memories that inspired me to create the Variety Show we put on at Benjamin each January. We had many acts including faculty, students, administrators and more. We got to know everyone in a different and special light rather than just as students, teachers and administrators. The entire school would attend our preview assembly and the shows were always a sell out. It brought much joy, camaraderie and a sense of community to all involved! It is hard for me to believe that this year, we are celebrating 30 years of the Benjamin Variety Show. This year we plan to revive some of the best acts and hope to create new experiences for our audiences and participants. I encourage everyone to come out on January 24th and support the Arts at TBS. You will have a great time!!!”
