The Upper School’s Underclassmen Showcase is an opportunity for all Benjamin freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to show off their talents on stage. With about 20 performers, several students and unique skills were showcased. The Upper School was initially inspired by senior showcases in colleges so that their students could get exposure or job opportunities. While there is a senior showcase at Benjamin, Señora Salivar, Performing Arts Department Chair, was a prominent advocate for a similar show but for the rest of the student body too. These talents range from singers and dancers to bagpipe players and painters. After the show, there was a reception to honor the students and their visual and performing arts work. Going on the tenth year of Benjamin Hall, the Upper School has established a sense of importance for the arts through these acknowledging and celebratory events.
