When one stepped into the DLC on Wed., Feb, 5, they would feel as though they were transported to a lively and colorful ‘fiesta’. Inflatable cactuses, brightly-colored flags, and lanterns lined the walls and tables of the usually calm and mundane learning center. Excited chatter and wishful reminiscing were heard. The attendees, the senior class, celebrated the annual 100-Day Luncheon with this event.
Each year, members of alumni relations and the parent liaisons for the senior class join forces to help celebrate one hundred calendar days left until graduation. The 100-Day Luncheon is paid for by the alumni association and is carried out by the parents. The parent liaisons for the Class of 2025 are Dr. Susan Poncy, Mrs. Laura Tighe, Dr. Louisa Fitzpatrick; Mrs. Ashley Simmons directed the alumni contributions. The luncheon brings the senior class together and celebrates the end of their journey at Benjamin. It is a wonderful way to look back on previous memories and look forward to college decisions.
The parent liaisons went to the DLC and transformed it through decorations. The food options were make-your-own fajitas and/or loaded nachos. The celebration was finished off with special cupcakes.
“The food was really good. I have only had Moe’s a couple of times but I really liked it. I had fun eating with my friends, and the Mexican food was a good surprise,” shared senior Victoria Powell
Senior Bella Marx shares why she liked the luncheon, “I thought it was really nice of the parents to set all of that up for the seniors. It was fun to be with the entire class for one lunch.”
Senior Jonathan Vidal echoes Marx’s views, “The 100 Days Senior Celebration was a great activity! We got the chance to bond again and connect with our class and understand that we should enjoy all the time we have left together. I enjoyed sitting next to my peers with some amazing food and letting it all soak in.”
Senior Class celebrations will continue through the rest of the second semester and will culminate with graduation in May.
Dr. Peruggia discusses all of the future senior events to look forward to, “The luncheon is kind of the start of senior activity season, and so it is already continued with Senior Skip Day and it will carry forth with our carnival and other fun activities.”
