St. Edwards Boys Lacrosse Defeats Benjamin to Claim District Title

The boys lacrosse team’s season has come to a close after recently falling short of capturing the district title.

The team lost in the district finals to St. Edwards 10-17 on Thurs. Apr. 15 after much anticipation of a win. After winning the district semifinals, many players on the team were upset as they wanted to continue their season.

“We were pretty confident with our skills going into the district finals game,” junior Matthew Roundtree said. “I think we were all upset with the result because we had a lot of momentum coming into the game from the district semifinal.”

With the team’s 11-5 regular season record, this loss came as a disappointment and a shock to the team, especially junior Jack Horgen.

“The team has been fairly successful in our regular season games,” he said. “We have a strong team, but the district final game did not showcase our abilities and the way we can work together.”

With the team’s depth and younger players, the boys lacrosse team will continue to practice and work hard for next year’s season.
