How to make ramen
Ramen noodles are a staple in many households. They’re cheap, easy to prepare, and delicious. However, the pre-packaged versions can be full of sodium and other additives, making them not the best option for those looking to eat healthily. Making homemade ramen noodles is a great way to control the ingredients and ensure you’re getting a nutritious meal.
First, you’ll need to gather your ingredients. As mentioned earlier, two packages of ramen noodles (any flavor) will do. However, it’s best to choose a brand that doesn’t have too many additives. You’ll also need vegetables to add flavor and nutrition. Some good options include carrots, mushrooms, cabbage, and spinach. Other ingredients you may want to add include meat (such as chicken, beef, or pork), eggs, soy sauce, miso paste, garlic, ginger, and green onions.
To start, boil four cups of water in a pot. Once the water is boiling, add the ramen noodles and cook for 2-3 minutes until they’re soft. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy. Drain the noodles and set them aside.
Next, heat some vegetable oil in a separate pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger and cook for about a minute until fragrant. Then, add your sliced vegetables and cook for a few more minutes until they’re soft. If you’re adding meat, this is the time to add it to the pan and cook until it’s browned. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce and miso paste until they’re well combined. Add the mixture to the pan with the vegetables and meat (if using) and stir to combine. Let it cook for a few more minutes until everything is heated through.
Finally, it’s time to assemble your ramen bowls. Start with the cooked noodles at the bottom of the bowl, then pour the vegetable and meat mixture over the noodles. If you’re adding eggs, you can either boil them ahead of time or add them to the pan with the vegetables and let them cook until they’re done to your liking. Top your bowls with chopped green onions and any other toppings you like, such as hot sauce or chili flakes.
Making homemade ramen noodles can seem intimidating at first, but with a little practice, it can become a quick and easy meal to prepare. It’s also a great way to experiment with different flavors and ingredients to find your perfect combination. Don’t be afraid to get creative and try out new things – that’s part of the fun!
