The Tony Awards of South Florida: Mr. Peck Earns a Carbonell Nomination

After hearing about his Carbonell Nomination, Peck reflected, “it’s another reminder that our teaching artists are still out there actively practicing their craft, which I hope ultimately enriches what we bring back into the classroom.”

Our very own Director of Theater, Mr. Jason Peck, has earned a nomination for a Carbonell Award for his Outstanding Direction of a Play for All My Sons with the New City Players in Fort Lauderdale. 

“It’s a huge honor to be nominated. The list of who is on the best director nominee sheet was pretty amazing. There were Pulitzer Prize finalists, Tony nominees, Obie nominees, and these are people that I’ve looked up since I’ve moved to Florida, so the fact that I am even on that list is something I wasn’t expecting. Honestly, I’m not getting my hopes up but honestly the nomination and the acknowledgement is the award for me. In the back of your head you always fantasize if you would win, but I don’t think that is going to happen.

On November 17th, Mr. Peck will learn if he takes home the award, but the nomination itself is already a remarkable honor. Congratulations!

She enjoys watching sports and spending time with friends and family.
