DRAMA
- Fall play Here There Are Blueberries is a success according to reviews.
- The South Florida Cappies, a high school theatre adjudication, sent 44 critics to watch the performance on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 1:00 PM.
- Sage Ponchock received a total of 34 mentions for her role as Rebecca Erbelding. Other actors, such as Ilia Peck, Ava Shawe, and Alex Harris, garnered numerous mentions in the reviews
- Auditions for the spring musical, Into the Woods, were held on Wednesday, November 19. Those who received a callback returned the following day, and a cast list was released at the start of Thanksgiving break.
- Rehearsals are underway, but the cast will take a hiatus during midterms and Christmas break
- The District Thespian Competition will take place at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts on Dec. 13. While requests to participate have closed, the Benjamin Theater Company plans to send many hopeful submissions.
DANCE
- Freshmen Dazzlers Briella Thomas and Barlowe Wilson performed at their first Underclassman Showcase on Monday, Oct. 27.
- As the regular football season came to a close, the Dazzlers celebrated their senior dancers. Captain Bryce Seger, co-captains Catalina Sanchez and Bridget Stein, Alyssa Saraqi, Ava Reece, and Nickie Walsh were each honored before and during the football game against St. Andrew’s on Oct. 30.
- With the 30th Annual Variety Show fast approaching, Dazzlers coach and US Fine Arts Department Chair Sara Salivar has begun to organize numbers with the MS dance teacher, Mrs. Lori Ramirez.
- The Dazzlers, Diamondettes, Sparklers, and students in dance classes from both divisions will perform on Jan. 24, 2026.
BAND
- Backdoor Cafe saw a large turnout on Oct. 21 and offered a chance for students to showcase their musical talents
- The Upper School band performed a medley of military anthems at the Veterans Day Ceremony, which included “The Army Goes Rolling Along”, “Anchors Away”, and others. Senior James Tepper honored fallen soldiers at the said ceremony with a rendition of “Taps.”
- Dr. Henderson, conductor, and his ensemble saw great success at the Winter Musical Festival. They closed the semester with a performance at the 9th Annual Holiday Assembly.
VISUAL ARTS
- Mr. Matthew Haughn has left the Benjamin School after two years of teaching ceramics and other art media. Students in his elective classes this semester now have an interim substitute.
