The winning advisory in the freshman class was Ms. Szleiga’s advisory. They created a Florida Christmas scene with a cutout palm tree, floating snowflakes, Santa, and each advisory member as an elf. This door was especially impressive due to the real lights strung around the tree and the cutout snowflakes that were suspended in-air using wire.
In true Benjamin fashion, the school community has gone all out to spread holiday cheer and joy. One way this is done is through the annual Door Decorating Contest. Each advisory is challenged with designing and decorating their advisor’s classroom door to create Christmas scenes, winter wonderlands, and more. Students used wrapping paper, cutout snowflakes, and lights to dazzle the teacher judges. The winners of this contest were announced at the Holiday Assembly on Dec. 9.
This year’s Door Decorating Contest was the perfect start to the holiday season. Students and their advisors worked together to create beautiful doors, and solidarity was created through rivalries and healthy competition. Congrats to all of the advisory winners!
Mrs. Polidori’s advisory won for the sophomores. Her door was inspired by the classic Charlie Brown Christmas Movie, featuring Snoopy, his dog house, Woodstock, and lots and lots of snowflakes. This door stood out due to the fabric snow placed at the bottom of the door. Mrs. Polidori’s advisees also placed a table with a replica of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree next to the door.
