“I started Krav Maga in January or February. I did Taekwondo when I was a younger kid, but I was too scared to break the wooden board. Fast forward to now, I wanted to try and learn some self-defense, and I saw an ad for a Krav Maga studio in Palm Beach Gardens. Krav Maga is an Israeli defense form that’s very practical and relies on your body’s natural movements to redirect an attack.
Ever since I started, I feel safer when I’m out alone or with friends. Confidence in being able to defend yourself and others is a great feeling. Another thing I like about Krav Maga, as opposed to other martial arts, is that everyone wants you to succeed.
We have a belt system, but it’s not as toxically competitive as other self-defense systems. There are people from their teenage years to 80 years old learning new skills. I try and go at least once a week while teaching, plus pursuing my graduate degree. Everyone and anyone can learn something, and it’s so important to learn self-defense.
I’d recommend starting something like this to any of my students.”
