On Dec. 13, 2025, at 3 P.M., the Masterworks Chorus of Palm Beach will pay a visit to the Benjamin School and perform Handel’s Messiah.
Chair of the Performing Arts Department, Mrs. Sara Salivar, worked with the chorus to bring this show to life.
“I have known the Masterworks Chorus for many years, and before COVID, we hosted them in Benjamin Hall in 2018. We reconnected this year and invited them to perform again in Benjamin Hall for the holiday season,” said Salivar.
George Frideric Handel, a German composer, was a favorite of King George III of England. He is most famous for his oratorio “Messiah,” which includes one of the most well-known choruses of all time: Hallelujah. It tells the story of Jesus Christ from the Nativity to his resurrection after the crucifixion. Handel’s Messiah became a holiday staple in the centuries that followed.
“I am most looking forward to the pure enjoyment and experiencing this beautiful holiday tradition in Benjamin Hall once again,” said Salivar. “Everyone should appreciate history and the arts, and what better way than experiencing Handel’s Messiah. Everything is live: the professional singers, a large chorus, and a symphony. It just doesn’t get any better.”
The Masterworks Chorus of Palm Beach performs throughout the country in every season. This year is the 47th season since the chorus’s foundation in 1979. It focuses on engaging the community in choral numbers that inspire and uplift. In addition to performing in Benjamin Hall, the chorus will sing at the Royal Poinciana Chapel on Palm Beach Island. The performance will be on Dec. 14. 2025, at 7 P.M.
“They do an incredible performance, and I highly recommend that all students, faculty, staff, and families attend this brilliant holiday event. If you have never attended a classical concert with a large chorus and a professional symphony, this is a must, especially in our beautiful Benjamin Hall, where the acoustics are spectacular,” said Salivar.
Students and members of the Benjamin faculty can see Handel’s Messiah free of charge. A seat can be redeemed with a student ID when doors open at 2:30.
